CRIME: Define terms, please

After reading the Aug. 23 Records section in our Coeur d’Alene Press, I was lost trying to figure out what all the punishment terms meant. The list includes: determinate time with time served, indeterminate time and fines, probation violation, probation revoked imposing previously suspended sentence of two years determinate with credit for time served and years indeterminate for major crimes, etc.

Maybe it’s just me, but wouldn’t it be helpful if The Press would have a few judges get together and describe what all the different punishments mean. That would help some of us.
