Wiggett Building changes hands

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 3 months AGO
| August 27, 2017 1:00 AM

The historic Wiggett Building on the southwest corner of Fourth Street and Lakeside Avenue has been sold to a group of local investors.

Mike Gregg of Commercial Real Estate Agency said the early plans are for a complete renovation and then converting the 25,000-square-foot interior into retail, food, office and maybe residential spaces. It was built in 1910 and was a downtown Montgomery Ward store.

The building is three levels with 8,250 square feet on the main floor and 22 parking spaces.

JR Perk offers coffee,

food, lounge & games

Extensive renovation has turned the building at Idaho and 8th streets in Post Falls from a No Name Bar, smoke shop and Razor’s Edge barber shop into the JR Perk. The place became a coffee house with a drive-through, a beverage lounge, eatery and game and music combination.

The “menu” includes many coffee options, smoothies, energy drinks, 35 beers, wines, cocktails, mini tacos, tamales, pretzels, mozzarella and zucchini sticks, bagels and muffins. Activities include four dart boards (with a league, tournaments and G3 internet), a large TV, open-mic night, jam sessions, karaoke and live entertainment. The place seats 50 people at a variety of tables and bar areas, a lounge with leather sofas and chairs and an outdoor smoking area.

Hours are 5 a.m. to about midnight Monday to Thursday, 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. Owners are Eric Thorneycroft and Sandra Johnson. Phone 208-262-9253.

Now for the Tidbits

- Future new hotels include a Staybridge Suites in Riverstone and a Fairfield Inn on Northwest Boulevard. The Shilo Inn on Appleway will change to Comfort Suites after a major remodel.

- Gizmo-CDA will be moving from Fourth Street to North Idaho College. Openings coming on Fourth Street include a local real estate office, the Relic Moon offering piercing and body jewelry and the White Pine coffee place. - Post Falls openings in the next weeks include Popeye’s (opening in mid-September) and Riverstone Dental Care. Fast Cash 4 Cards and Massage Envy businesses will be in Ironwood Square. A new Asian eatery will be where the Kynrede Cafe was removed in Hayden. Watch for El Taco Loco off Canfield Avenue, EyeGuys Optical in Hayden, Rumour Boutique expanding on Government Way and Vine & Olive restaurant in Riverstone.

- On Appleway watch for Firehouse Subs and Dairy Queen. Fuel Fitness & Nutrition has a new building at Haycraft and Government Way, and J.E. - With the Kootenai Health building construction, signs point to the entrance for emergencies. Ironically, the sign says “E.D. Entrance” for “Emergency Department.” Hmmm. “E.D.” also means “Erectile Dysfunction.” Uh, a friend mentioned that.
