Eleanor Mildred Newton, 95
Eleanor Mildred Newton passed away peacefully at the call of the Lord Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Hayden, Idaho, where she resided for the past 2 1/2 years.
Eleanor was born on July 19, 1922, in New Salem, N.D., to Edmund Max Ullrich and Mary Anna (Katzke) Ullrich. She attended elementary school and junior high school in New Salem. The family then relocated to Kellogg, Idaho, where she attended high school and where she met Ben L. Newton, marrying in 1938. They had three children: Marilyn, Dennis and Lance.
Eleanor’s life was centered on family, friends, gardening, family camping, fishing and her miniature Chihuahua, Oreo. Eleanor was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was active in PTA, a Cub Scouts Den mother and the numerous activities of her children.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ben and her brother, Edwin Ullrich. She is survived by daughter, Marilyn R. Steinwandel (Chuck) of Clackamas, Ore.; son Dennis N. Newton of Salem, Ore.; son Lance S. Newton (Nora) of Hayden, Idaho; brother, Rayton Floyd Ullrich (Joan) of Harrison, Idaho; sister, Blondine Laverne Dorendorf of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; five grandchildren: Jeff Newton, Stacey Steinwandel, Norm Newton, Elizabeth Newton and Anthony Newton; along with numerous nephews, nieces and great-grandchildren.
Mom, you lived a full, long, wonderful life. Rest in Peace. We will miss you and forever remember you.
A viewing/visitation is planned from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, with a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Forest Cemetery. A reception will be held following the graveside at 4 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho.
