SPIRIT LAKE — Senior Lilly Kelley scored 21 of her game-high 29 points in the first half to lead the Timberlake Tigers past the visiting Sandpoint Bulldogs 64-46 in a nonleague game Thursday night.

“Defensively, we were able to get a few more stops in the second quarter,” said Timberlake coach Matt Miller, whose team outscored Sandpoint 17-5 in the quarter to take a 31-19 halftime lead. “They missed a few shots in the second that they made in the first quarter. We played really good in spurts, and other times we didn’t look so solid. But it’s early in the season and that’s to be expected.”

Grace Kirscher scored 26 points for Sandpoint (1-4).

Freshman Brooke Jessen scored 12 points for Timberlake (3-1), which travels to Moscow on Saturday.

WALLACE — The last time the Knights and Miners shared the court, Lakeside ran out of gas late in the fourth quarter of a season-opening loss in the Silver Valley tournament in Kellogg.

This time, they had a little more left in the tank.

Tera Allen scored 13 points and Suzzana Pakootas had eight rebounds to lead the Knights past the Miners in the North Star League opener for both at Kirby Krulitz Court.

“The last time we played them, we just had a bad fourth quarter,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “But the girls have really came a long way in the last two weeks and played a lot better tonight. We really ran out of gas the last time we played them. Defensively, we had a lot better defense in the post and did a much better job tonight. We’re slowly figuring out what we need to work on. It’s still a work in progress.”

Tommia Pakootas scored 10 points for Lakeside (4-1), which travels to Garfield-Palouse tonight.

Hayley Oertli scored 11 points for Wallace (2-3).
