SANDPOINT — A home in the Cabinet Mountains was destroyed by fire on Wednesday, according to Northside Fire District officials.

The structure fire in the 900 block of Whitetail Drive was reported at 2 p.m. The fire was fully involved, prompting firefighters to employ a surround-and-drown tactic to contain the blaze.

“It was contained to that house,” said Northside Fire Chief Brad Mitton.

There were no reports of injuries.

The home was a described as a two-story, wood-framed dwelling. A damage estimate and suspected cause of the fire were not immediately available on Thursday.

Mitton said the home was determined to be outside of a fire district. It was located near the North Fork of Grouse Creek.

In addition to Northside’s personnel, firefighters from the Sam Owen Fire District and Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS also responded to the fire.

The blaze is being investigated by the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office.
