SPOKANE — Tanner McCliment-Call scored 21 points for the Post Falls Trojans, who led by 14 points after three quarters but had to hold on for a season-opening 56-54 victory over the Rogers Pirates on Friday night.

Drake Thompson added 11 points for Post Falls. Rogers had a shot at the win, but missed a 3-pointer from well behind the line at the buzzer.

“Tonight was a great learning experience for all of us,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “We made just enough defensive stops to hold on for the win.

“We missed easy shot after easy shot (in the first half), and because of that, we never got into much of a flow, missing shots that we normally make.”

Evan Nomee scored 19 points to lead Rogers.

Post Falls plays host to Greater Spokane League heavyweight Gonzaga Prep on Thursday.
