MOSES LAKE — Police believe a series of vehicle prowls in Pelican Point and Montlake may have been committed by the same two suspects.
Moses Lake police say they have been receiving an “unusual” number of theft reports over the past couple of days. Tuesday morning alone officers responded to 30 vehicle prowls in the Montlake area. Officers recovered some of the stolen items, but a lot of the belongings remain missing. Each vehicle prowl report involved a car that was unlocked. Officers believe the suspects walked down the road attempting to open doors and entered vehicles that were easily accessible.
“Additionally, several of the vehicles had valuable/desirable items left in plain sight inside the vehicles. We cannot urge people strongly enough to lock up your cars, and take the valuables out of them (including the keys). We had another incident this weekend of a car being stolen while it was left unlocked warming up,” the MLPD said in a release.
On Sunday and Monday the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received over a dozen reports of vehicle prowls in the Pelican Point area. The MLPD says the prowls in Pelican Point and Montlake “may be connected.”
“Due to the geographical proximity, it is certainly possible that the same suspects are involved in the cases in Moses Lake.”
