Basketball season tips off at Frenchtown tourney

The 2017 basketball season has officially begun for schools in Sanders County as they all headed out to the Frenchtown tournament over the weekend.

Starting with Class A which features Thompson Falls, the boys went up against Libby but fell short by the final buzzer with the score 70-56.

While Class C schools, Noxon, Hot Springs and Plains also put up some hard-fought games at the tournament.

Plains matched up against Valley Christian and the boys took the win with a final score of 51-23.

Kyle Weeks, Derick Curry, Tanner Ovitt, Jay Von Heeder and Sinjin LeDeaux were the big scorers for the game.

Hot Springs headed up against Darby but fell to the opposing side with the final score 46-27.

Noxon matched against Lincoln and headed home with a solid win to start off their season with the final score 61-52.

Logan Wood, R.Weltz, LBrubacker. A.Currie, O. Fisher, E. Henricksen, A. Galloway and B. Marshall were the top scorers for the Noxon side.

The girls also headed up against teams at the recent tournament.

Thompson Falls Lady Hawks matched against Libby but fell short for the win, final score 40-27.

Hope Slater, Maya Stiles, Sarah Detlaff, Haley Morgan, Jody Detlaff and Megan Baxter all scored.

Noxon Lady Devils looked to be on fire as they took the competition 58-8 against Victor.

Anna Kasper, Delaney Weltz, Cory Brodmerkle, Kristina Brown and Phalyn Fickas all had solid games.

Alberton-Superior took the win away from the Plains Trotters at the weekends match up with a final score of 52-28.

Lindsay Laws, Jessica Thompson and Rachel Huenink were the only three players able to make a basket.

Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat also went down with a final score of 44-41 to Seeley-Swan.

Sage Jackson, McKennzie Cannon, Sydney Jackson, Lizzy Fisher , Danielle Graham and Brianna Gray all made baskets ensuring the team scored each quarter.
