BONNERS FERRY — Lady Badgers Basketball recorded two road wins last week, beginning with a 64-30 victory at Clark Fork on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Lady Badgers turned defense into easy offense as they jumped out to a 31-6 first quarter lead, which grew to a 50-15 halftime score.

“We worked on some different defenses that worked well and allowed us some easy transition baskets,” said coach Travis Hinthorn.

The Badgers were led by freshman point guard Holly Ansley who scored 18 points. Kassy Skeen scored 13 points and also recorded 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Jerzie Pluid contributed 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.

“Jerzie did a good job offensively for us. She did a great job of driving and scoring from the high post against their zone,” said Hinthorn.

The Lady Badgers continued their winning ways as they travelled to Kalispell, Mont. to take on the Cougars of Stillwater Christian on Thursday, Nov. 30. BFHS opened a 29-point halftime lead en route to a 63-24 win.

“The game was very similar to our game Tuesday. We did a great job of pushing the ball for some baskets in transition,” said Hinthorn.

The Badger guards Kassy Skeen, Kadi Bateman and Holly Ansley combined for 43 points. Bateman scored 11 points on 5 of 9 from the field and also had 5 steals and 2 assists. Skeen also filled the stat sheet with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 steals and 1 assist. Ansley scored 16 points on 9 of 12 shooting and also tallied 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots.

“I really like our offensive balance right now. When all five of our players on the floor are threats to score, that really opens up the defense,” said Hinthorn.

The Lady Badgers continue to be on the road this week with games Dec. 7 at Cusick, Wash., and at Sandpoint on Saturday, Dec 9.
