MOSES LAKE — It’s official: Elliott Goodrich is the winner of last month’s tightly contested Moses Lake School Board race.
Goodrich defeated incumbent school board member Kevin Donovan, who had served two terms on the board, by 17 votes — 2,869 to 2,852 — in the Nov. 7 election, close enough to trigger a mandatory machine recount, which took place on Tuesday.
According to Grant County elections officials, the results remain unchanged.
Two school board seats were up for election in November. In the other race, Vickey Melcher handily dispatched incumbent school board member Oscar Ochoa 3,089 to 2,716, winning 53.2 percent of the vote.
Ochoa had only served one term on the board.
Both Goodrich and Melcher will be sworn in at the upcoming school board meeting on Dec. 14.
