Ho, ho, ho, week packed with holiday fun & cheer

SANDPOINT — Hold on to your holiday hats — this week is as busy as Santa’s workshop!

For music lovers, we’ve got a little bit of everything and all of it in the Christmas spirit. On Friday and Sunday, the Pend Oreille Chorale and Chamber Orchestra work their magic and POAC has a holiday art show on tap that evening. Also on Friday, it’s Community Day at Schweitzer, with $10 lift tickets to raise money for two local organizations.

Saturday features the unveiling of the Carousel of Smiles at the fairgrounds, along with arts & crafts marketplaces and fairs that same day.

Tonight, check out the new, Oscar-worthy animated film, ‘Loving Vincent’ on the big screen of our own Panida Theater.

Thursday, Dec. 14

‘Loving Vincent’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

This feature-length painted animation — the first film of its kind — explores the life and unusual death of Vincent Van Gogh via depictions of his artworks.

ICL Holiday Party & Art Show

Venue: Columbia Bank Community Plaza, 231 N. Third Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Ring in the holiday season with this ‘Gems of Idaho — Our Public Lands’ exhibit, featuring beautiful photographs by ICL 2017 artist-in-residence Linda Lantzy, as well as silent auctions of her work.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Movember Moustache Party & Cancer Fundraiser

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6-10 p.m.

If you’re growing out your Movember Moushtache, come celebrate with the Selkirk Fire Department and MickDuff’s to help raise some money for Prostate Cancer Research and Community Cancer Services.

Admission: $10 commemorative pint glass and drink specials, plus $2.50 from each pint goes to the cause. For those 21 and over.

Friday, Dec. 15

Pend Oreille Chorale & Chamber Orchestra

Venue: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 601 S. Lincoln St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7 p.m.

Celebrate the spirit of Christmas as one of Sandpoint’s cultural treasures performs gorgeous music such as Charpentier’s ‘Midnight Mass for Christmas,’ Vivaldi’s ‘Beatus Vir’ and more. This one will definitely get you in the spirit!

An additional performance will be held Dec. 17.

POAC Winter Art Exhibit

Venue: Sandpoint Center (Columbia Bank Atrium), 414 Church St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5:30-7 p.m.

The community is welcome to attend the opening of the Pend Oreille Arts Council’s Winter Exhibit, featuring three distinct exhibits: ‘Rooted in Fiber,’ the annual extravaganza of creative fiber arts; ‘Works in Miniature,’ a collection of pieces no larger than 8” x 8” (perfect for gift-giving); and ‘Beyond Form,’ a special exhibit of innovative abstract paintings.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

This fundraiser puts 100 percent of proceeds right back into our community as it benefits Community Cancer Services and the Bonner Partners in Care Clinic. What an excellent way to support two truly great local organizations.

Admission: $10 lift tickets, with all money going to the above groups.

Bright Moments

Venue: Idaho Pour Authority, 203 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Be sure to settle in for a good listen when Bright Moments plays the tunes — this band is the real deal.

Mobius Riff

Venue: Eichardt’s Pub & Grille, 212 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-10 p.m.

If your musical tastes lean toward both the eclectic and the exceptional, this local ensemble is guaranteed to knock your socks off.

Mike Wagoner

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

A solo nigh It’s a solo night for Mr. Wagoner. Classic country and rock.

The Somethings

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Come out and enjoy the dynamic duo of Megan Turner and Chris Lynch as they work their melodic magic with a wide variety of popular songs and music featuring swing, jazz and rockabilly.

Saturday, Dec. 16

Carousel of Smiles Unveiling

Venue: Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. Boyer Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 1-6 p.m. (Curtains drawn at 2 p.m.)

The curtain will be drawn back to unveil the assembled — unrestored — Carousel of Smiles! Bring the whole family and learn more about how you can be part of this incredible project. Browse exhibits and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies.

‘Jazzy Nutcracker’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Studio 1 Dance Academy delightfully adorns the stage as they perform their holiday dance magic.

Procrastinator’s Marketplace & Bright Moments

Venue: Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters, 524 Church St., in Sandpoint.
