SPOKANE — With the shot clock winding down, Drake Thompson sank a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left to boost Post Falls’ lead to 4, enough to seal the Trojans’ 58-56 victory over the Lewis and Clark Tigers on Friday night.
“We ran a set, and they took away our first and second option. We trusted our teammate and he stepped up and hit a big shot,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “Tonight was the first night we had four quarters of solid defensive effort. Against Gonzaga Prep we had some huge lapses, so we put in some work in practice and played better defensively.”
Tanner McCliment-Call hit three 3-pointers in the second half and led Post Falls (2-1) with 17 points. David Bourgard also hit three 3s and added 14 points and eight rebounds. Thompson finished with seven assists.
McLean also had praise for Nic Morris, who finished with 10 points and five rebounds, including four offensive boards in the second half.
Naje Smith scored a game-high 20 points for Lewis and Clark (5-3).
Next up for Post Falls is the Tarkanian Classic Dec. 20-23 in Las Vegas. The Trojans open Wednesday against Rancho Christian of Temecula, Calif., at the Orleans Arena.

“We got cold from the field and had a hard time getting a basket,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “They did a good job defensively, and we didn’t have a lot of great looks in the second half. We didn’t do a good job of responding when they closed in on defense and it slowly got away from us.”
