Keeping an eye on new Riverstone buildings

Four major new buildings are in the works for the Riverstone area.

The newest commercial building permit is for a two-story medical office building being developed for July by Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine at 1812 N. Lakewood Drive. The Orthopedic Physical Therapy Institute will occupy the first floor, moving from 850 W. Ironwood.

The 6,500-square-foot second floor is available for one or two tenants through Dr. Roger Dunteman at 208-660-4992. According to architect David Shrontz of d’Zign Group Architecture, the building will be a conventional wood-framed structure with a dramatic glass-wrapped open stairway at the lobby and a ground-level field turf with roll-up glass doors for access (a rendering of the new building is on page M9).

The general contractor is Williamson Johnson Co.

Ellenbecker Eye Clinic at 2020

With its new address ironically at 2020 Riverstone Drive, Ellenbecker Eye Clinic will move next summer from nearby at 2140 Riverstone Drive.

In Coeur d’Alene since 1991, Dr. Wayne Ellenbecker and Dr. Cindy Ellenbecker offer professional eyecare services and custom eyewear. They treat minor eye injuries and many eye conditions and diseases. She is a dry-eye specialist with procedures and medications to treat the underlying causes.

North Idaho Dermatology on Merritt Creek Loop

A late-summer completion is expected for a three-story building of North Idaho Dermatology at 2199 N. Merritt Creek Loop. The 18-year-old practice will move from nearby at 2288 N. Merritt Creek Loop.

The place will include more than 30 exam and procedure rooms, business and support offices, laboratory environments and an underground parking garage. Owners are Dr. Stephen Craig, Dr. Benjamin Ringger and Dr. Hillary Hill. Dr. Dustin Larsen will join in July.

Staybridge Suites at Riverstone entry

Work has begun on the ground for a new Staybridge Suites Hotel on the vacant 1.73 acres between McDonald’s and Starbucks.

The 82,380-square-foot building will have 96 suites on five floors, some with views of the Spokane River. The project will include an indoor swimming pool and 72 on-site parking stalls.

Starting this spring, the estimated construction cost is about $9 million.

Probasco Law Office to Harbor Plaza

The law office of attorney Randall Probasco has moved to Suite 120 of Harbor Plaza at 610 W. Hubbard (adjacent to Bank CdA just off Northwest Boulevard).

An Idaho native, he earned degrees at Boise State and the University of Idaho. He started practice in 2000 He came to Coeur d’Alene in 2007 and represents clients in civil matters before magistrate and district courts. He provides legal counsel in relation to business, contracts, estate planning (wills and trusts), probate, landlord-tenant issues, real estate, personal injury and other general civil matters.

Cd’A Wellness Bar open after remodel

The downtown Coeur d’Alene Wellness Bar has reopened with expanded seating and kitchen areas at 312 N. Fourth St.

Owners Monica and Tait Engebretsen offer pressed juices, smoothies, acai bowls, espresso, salads, a toast bar and other healthy menu items. They’ll add a phone app for pre-orders Jan. 1.

Now for the Tidbits

- Major changes are planned for Ironwood Square between Lincoln Way and Government Way. Part of the east wing is being renovated, and a few businesses from the west wing will move there. The west wing will then be renovated for new tenants. Construction has begun for Active Family Healthcare at 919 W. Canfield Ave.

- Renovation is underway at the former Kelly’s Pub building at 726 N. Fourth St. Next spring it will be a breakfast-lunch eatery called Ten/6. Badass Backyard Brewing will be in Suite C at 317 E. Coeur d’Alene Ave. Pizza & Pretzels and Nail Lounge will open in Silver Lake Mall.

- MoMo sushi bar, wok and grill will be where Bonsai Bistro was at 101 E. Sherman. A new sign is already in place, and an increase in activity inside the restaurant was observed this past week. Tomlinson-Sotheby’s Realty is expanding downtown. Hague Law will expand at 401 Front Ave. Details soon.

- On Appleway watch for Firehouse Subs across from Winco. A second tenant is possible.

- Future new hotels include the Staybridge Suites under construction in Riverstone and a Fairfield Inn on Northwest Boulevard. The Shilo Inn on Appleway will change to Comfort Suites after a major remodel. Openings coming on Fourth Street include the Relic Moon offering piercing and body jewelry and the White Pine coffee place.

- T-Mobile will open soon in Suite F at 3134 E. Mullan Ave. in Post Falls. New construction off Mullan Avenue will be a Coachman Auto Body. And neighboring Kootenai Motors is moving to Hayden. Amerimart will open a gas station and convenience store at 7035 W. Seltice Way. Details soon.

- Watch for news on Danaan’s Deli and Joshua Tree Physical Therapy in Hayden. A new Asian eatery will be where the Kynrede Cafe was removed in Hayden. Watch for El Taco Loco off Canfield Avenue.

- Evidently 4,153,237 people got married last year. Shouldn’t that be an even number?
