MOSCOW, IDAHO — The 14U Flathead Lady Fusion hockey team went undefeated at the Girls Hockey Festival on Friday and Saturday, downing the Moscow Polar Bears and Missoula Bruins.
The Fusion (9-2) ran away with 8-1 and 9-1 wins over Moscow before topping Missoula in a tight, 4-3 contest to go 3-0 on the weekend despite missing seven team members for various reasons.
The Bruins scored first and led at two points throughout the game, but the Fusion fought back to eke out a win.
Nya Barber-Castro led the Fusion, the defending state champion in Montana, with eight goals in the three games. Lexi Kersten added five goals and two assists, and Margot Cummings chipped in two goals and three assists.
Goalie Piper Linsom turned away 40 of 44 shots.
The Fusion return to action at the Kalispell Winter Classic on Jan. 5-7. The 2018 state tournament is Feb. 6-8 in Bozeman.
