Downtown's MoMo almost ready to open
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 years, 1 month AGO
Pan-Asian and wok-executed authentic Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai dishes are the emphasis of MoMo, a sushi bar, wok and grill opening soon in the home of the former Bonsai Bistro at 101 E. Sherman Ave.
“We’re mobilizing an incredible team for a foundation for success,” said Grace McNiel, co-owner with her husband, Scott, Jamie and Henry Son and Hyun Son. “My brother, Hyun, and I are second-generation Korean-Japanese-Americans. Within the walls of our home, we strictly adhered to the dynamic of Asian culture. Yet outside of that, we completely assimilated into American culture. Food was what brought everyone together. With this dynamic, we bring the best of both worlds to meet the palate of Coeur d’Alene.”
The full sushi menu features fresh fish flown in from Seattle, specialty selections, sauces and dressings made from scratch. The family has many years of experience with restaurants in Colorado.
“We’re mobilizing an incredible team from Colorado just to make sure we have a foundation for success,” Grace said. “They’re excited to come up here.”
An exact opening date has not been announced, but the owners say it is opening sometime this week.
The location has been updated with a modern color palette, updated lighting and custom glasswork. The stocked koi pond remains on the lower level. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Phone 208-966-4076. Check www.momocda.com.
