Trotters beaten by Arlee Scarlets
Douglas Wilks Clark Fork Valley | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 8 years, 10 months AGO
The Trotters went into Friday’s nights game with a much larger crowd in the gym than usual and the air was heavy and thick with the anticipation of a very close game. The first quarter of the game belonged to the Scarletts, though by a narrow margin. Plains led 12-6 after one quarter of play.
Plains scored in single digits in the second and third quarters and the Trotters trailed by 11 heading into the final eight minutes of play. The Plains girls were behind by 11 points at the start of the fourth quarter with the score at 28-17, but the Trotters scored 19 in the final frame to make the game close. The late double-digit point drive in the fourth quarter was unfortunately not enough to earn the win, though it narrowed the loss to eight points.
Lindsay Laws scored 13 points to lead the Trotters, with Jessica Thompson close behind with nine points. Arlee Scarlets players Alyssia Vanderburg and Bryndle Goyins both scored 11 points during the game.

Special election could cost thousands

The financial impact to each county could affect already tight budgets cause even more challenging adjustments for the remainder of 2017. Many of the counties have created their budgets for this fiscal year and have very little room for major changes or extra expenses that they had not been taking into consideration in the previous year. The special election is the unexpected expense that Sanders County has to work on in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Plains Horsemen and Trotters hoping for successful track season
The Horsemen and Trotters have a team of boys and girls that could very well surprise many competing against them this year. Even though the team had five seniors graduate last year and go on to compete in colleagiate track this year throughout the western region, Plains remains a contender to place high in track this year. There are nine boys on the track team this year, eight more than the previous year. Some of the members of the team are new to track, as Head Coach Denise Montgomery discussed during a recent practice.
