Nettie L. Bews, 98
Nettie Bews passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 98 on Jan. 23, 2017, at Hospice House at Hummingbird Fields in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born May 25, 1918, in Eagle, Idaho, to Blaine and Pearl Brown. She survived her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Through the years Nettie enjoyed camping with her husband, family and dear friends; especially winter “snowbird” trips to Quartzite and Yuma, Ariz., by way of fifth-wheel trailer, which Ike skillfully pulled with his trusty 1979 Ford F150 pickup. Another joy in her life was watching Ike pitch horseshoes with some of her favorite horseshoe pitching friends whom she loved dearly.
Nettie possessed many talents including sewing, crocheting, painting, ceramics, many different craft projects, canning, and especially making her annual delicious rhubarb (homegrown) jam. Many evenings were spent with family and friends sitting around the kitchen table playing cards and “marbles” better known as “Aggravation” until wee hours of the next morning.
Nettie is survived by her beloved husband, Garland “Ike” Bews of 76 years who turned 100 on Oct. 28, 2016. They have lived in the Hayden Lake, Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, Idaho, area since 1969 coming from Quincy, Wash., after living in Morton, Wash. She is also survived by her daughter, Deeana Bews Harris (Tony); granddaughter (her pride and joy), Lori Brodie (Kirk) and great-grandson Maxsim Brodie, whom always lit up her life and put so many proud smiles on her face. Other survivors are several nieces and nephews.
No services will be held at this time, but a celebration of life may be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice House or a charity of your choice in the spirit and life of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and friend.
