Royal advances to 4-0 in wrestling over last weekend

ROYAL CITY — Royal defeated Burbank, 67-0, and River View, 60-12, last week to advance to a 4-0 record and the doorstep of the SCAC East prep wrestling title.

Saturday, the Knights had six placers in the annual Royal Rumble, which was won by the Moses Lake junior varsity.

In the victory over Burbank, Royal received pins from Eduardo Rodriguez, Regan Callahan and Ryder Eilers. There were technical falls by Kevin Pastor and Yovani Cruz.

Jose Galindo won by a decision 3-1. Abraham Medina decisioned Gabriel Mireles (second in state B 132 last year) of Mabton in an exhibition match, 4-0.

The triumph over River View featured pins by Eduardo Rodriguez, Kevin Pastor, Regan Callahan and Addin Felker.

The SCAC title was decided last night when Warden and Connell came to Royal. Those matches were too late for Sun Tribune press time.

The Royal winners at the Rumble were:

106 Rodolfo Flores fourth.

145 Daniel Bonilla second.

152 Lorenzo Myrick first.

160 Jose Galindo second.

182 Abel Dominguez first.

220 Ryder Eilers second.

Saturday the Knights will travel to Wahluke for the SCAC East District Wrestling Tournament. Action will get underway at 10 a.m. The top four wrestlers in each weight will advance to the regional meet at Royal on Saturday, Feb. 11.
