Plan now to attend a Fish and Game public open house to provide input that will help shape this year’s Chinook salmon seasons. Idaho Fish and Game fishery personnel will be presenting information on this year’s Chinook run forecast and discussing strategies on how to best manage the sport fishery.

Fish and Game staff hope to hear from anglers regarding season strategies preferred by anglers. Pre-season Idaho Chinook salmon estimates indicate lower returns than last year. Even with these lower run predictions, the Department is planning salmon sport fisheries around the state.

Salmon season open houses will be held at these locations. A short presentation will kick off each open house, with the meeting continuing until all angler comments have been addressed.

Riggins: Monday, February 13 -- 5:30pm-8:00pm at Salmon Rapids Lodge, 1010 S. Main Street;

Boise: Wednesday, February 15 -- 6:00pm-8:00pm at Fish and Game’s MK Nature Center auditorium, 600 S. Walnut St;

McCall: Thursday, February 16 -- 6:00pm-8:00pm at the McCall Fish and Game Office, 555 Deinhard Lane.

Those unable to attend a meeting can provide their comments by contacting regional fishery personnel at 208-634-8137 or by sending their information in writing to 2017 Salmon Seasons, 555 Deinhard Lane, McCall, ID 83638 or email to dale.allen@idfg.idaho.gov.

Individuals with disabilities may request meeting accommodations by contacting Teri Mattulat at the Fish and Game Nampa office (465-8465) or Jan Julian at the Fish and Game McCall office (634-8137) or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529 (TDD).
