Jerome sparks Kellogg to win over Bonners Ferry

KELLOGG — Chase Jerome had 21 points and six rebounds for the Kellogg Wildcats in a 72-48 win over the Bonners Ferry Badgers in an Intermountain League game at Andrews Gymnasium on Saturday.

Tanner Mueller went 7 of 8 from the floor and finished with 19 points off the bench for Kellogg (13-2, 5-0 IML), which plays at Priest River on Tuesday.

“We had three starters in foul trouble in the first half (Jerome, Toby Colburn and Grant Nearing),” Kellogg coach Jeff Nearing said. “But we had some players step up and hold it down for us. We played a lot better defense in the third quarter and really held them down.”

Kaleb Stockton scored 16 points for Bonners Ferry (5-9, 1-4), which hosts Timberlake on Monday.

SANDPOINT — The visiting Vikings outscored the Bulldogs 48-28 in the middle two quarters of the nonleague game at Les Rogers Court.

“We’re not that deep,” Sandpoint assistant coach Mike Roos said. “We’re running eight deep, and Coeur d’Alene’s running in 12 guys. We had a lull in the second quarter. They made a pretty good run in the second quarter, and we just couldn’t get it back.”

Joey Naccarato scored 14 points to lead a balanced attack for Coeur d’Alene (10-9). Sam Matheson added 12 points and Colson Yankoff had 11.

Robbie Johnson scored a game-high 22 points for Sandpoint (3-15). He also grabbed seven rebounds. Patrick Rockwell added 11 points, Alex Stockton five rebounds, Taran McLaughlin three assists.

Sandpoint plays host to Lakeland on Thursday.

Coeur d’Alene travels to Lewiston on Friday in the first round of the 5A Region 1 tournament.

MOSCOW — Kenny Louie-McGee scored 22 of his 31 points in the first half as the Timberwolves knocked off the Bears at Bear Den.

Louie-McGee hit six of his seven 3-pointers in the first half for Lake City (14-5).

“Kenny was exceptional offensively tonight,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “Hitting 3s, getting into the lane, taking it to the basket.”

James Carlson added 12 points, Nick McCartin 10 for Lake City, which plays host to Lakeland on Tuesday.

Hunter Pickard led Moscow (8-9) with 10 points.

RATHDRUM — Kaden Davis scored 16 points, including 4 for 4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, and the Hawks held off the Tigers.

“We came out playing well after having 11 days off,” said Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan, whose team hadn’t played since a win at Moscow on Jan. 31. “We came out with good energy and jumped out to a lead and held it from there. They fought back, but the kids fought hard and never gave up.”

Dylan Knight had eight points, eight rebounds and three assists and Dylan Vahey had 11 points for Lakeland (7-12), which plays at Lake City on Tuesday.

Colton Counts scored nine points for Timberlake (9-6), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Monday.

PULLMAN — Junior Garrett White totaled 19 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals and a blocked shot as the Royals beat the Thunder in the championship game of the Mountain Christian League tournament at Pullman Christian to win the league tourney for the second straight year.

Perrin Fish added eight points and nine rebounds for North Idaho Christian, which finished the season 29-2. Dillon Walker grabbed six boards.
