The city of Coeur d’Alene will consider designs for a new apartment complex that connects to WinCo on West Appleway Avenue.
Hudson Way LLC will present its initial designs to the city’s Design Review Commission on Thursday for four three-story residential buildings that will house 85 residential units and one community building.
The developer also wants to split the property into three lots and use surplus city land along Appleway.
“This group has done several other projects in the city and have been able to get everything approved for design by the second meeting,” said Hilary Anderson, Coeur d’Alene’s community planning director.
During its first meeting Thursday, Hudson Way LLC will go over design concepts for the proposed structures and hear feedback from the commission.
A second meeting has already been scheduled for March 9, when Hudson Way LLC will go back to the commission with a more detailed plan and discuss further details such as parking access and trash services.
Anderson said the city is asking the developer to make a connection to WinCo — most likely via a stairway.
“That way residents can easily access the grocery store without having to go down along Hudson, onto Appleway and then around,” Anderson explained. “It would be a little more convenient for the people who live there.”
Should both Thursday’s meeting and the second meeting in March go smoothly, the Hudson Way LLC still has to submit and receive permits for the vacation and short plat.
Thursday’s Design Review Commission meeting will be held at noon at the Old Council Chambers at the Coeur d’Alene City Hall, 710 E. Mullan Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
