Lake City routs Lakeland

COEUR d’ALENE — Trailing by one point after one quarter, Lake City outscored Lakeland 58-16 the rest of the way en route to a 76-35 victory on senior night at Lake City.

“We went to the press in the second quarlter, which got us going defensively,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “We did a much better job getting back in transition defense, and getting up on their shooters.”

Kenny Louie-McGee scored 13 points, Duncan Butler, Nick McCartin and Kyle Manzardo 10 each for Lake City (15-5). James Carlson added eight points, six rebounds and three blocked shots for the Timberwolves, who shot 56 percent (31 of 55) from the field.

Dylan Vahey scored a game-high 16 points for Lakeland (7-13). Kaden Davis made three 3-pointers and scored nine of his 11 points in the first quarter for the Hawks.

Lakeland visits Sandpoint on Thursday in 4A Inland Empire League play to wrap up the regular season.

Lake City plays at Post Falls on Friday in the first round of the 5A Region 1 tournament.

ST. MARIES — Senior Jake Sieler had 19 points, six assists and four steals for the Lumberjacks in a nonleague win against the Miners.

“It was senior night, so we did some different rotations early on,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said. “It was a track meet in the second and third quarter, and wasn’t our best defensive effort of the evening.”

Zack Welch hit four straight 3-pointers and scored 14 of his 19 points in the third quarter for Wallace, which rallied to make it 50-44 before the Lumberjacks pulled away.

Senior Brady Martin had 16 points and 12 rebounds, senior Bryant Asbury 11 points and 10 rebounds and senior Kiefer Gibson 10 points and eight rebounds for St. Maries (11-4), which plays the winner of Monday’s 2A District 1-2 tournament game between Grangeville and Orofino on Tuesday at 7 at Troy High.

Logan Hull scored 12 points for Wallace (11-8), which hosts Clark Fork on Tuesday.

HARRISON FLATS — Trailing by one point at halftime, the visiting Knights outscored the weary Warriors 27-9 in the second half en route to the North Star League victory.

A.J. Bighead scored 13 points, Takoda Abrahamson 10 for Lakeside (7-10, 3-6 NSL).

Triston Usdrowski scored a game-high 15 points for Kootenai (6-8, 4-5), which shot just 3 for 26 from the floor in the second half. The Warriors were playing their fourth game in five days.

“Our legs were definitely not there in the second half,” Kootenai coach Mike Maitland said.

Kootenai plays host to Genesis Prep tonight at 7:30.
