MIDDLETON — No directions needed for these Timberlake Tigers.

They know the way by now.

Even have the time pretty much locked in as well — 2:50 p.m. PST today — at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.

And talk about taking defending to the next level, they’re doing that in more ways than one.

Seniors Allison Kirby scored 17 points and Keelie Lawler added 15 points — all in the first half — of a 79-42 win over the Parma Panthers on Friday at Middleton High, as Timberlake advanced to the state 3A girls basketball championship game for the sixth time in seven years.

Timberlake forced 23 of Parma’s 30 turnovers in the first half and jumped out to a 52-11 halftime lead. Madison Jackson had all 11 of those points for Parma.

“That (23 turnovers) was the number that I was most impressed with,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “I was really happy with our defense. Those shots that Jackson got, they were tough shots. She was full speed, pulling up. I was really happy with the defense in both the full- and half-court. The girls did a good job.”

“It’s what our coach has taught us to do,” Kirby said. “We’re just playing just like coach has taught us how to do.”

Timberlake (21-2) will face Sugar-Salem (22-4) in this afternoon’s championship game. Sugar-Salem beat Timberlake in the 2011 and ’15 title games.

“They’re a really balanced team,” Miller said. “They’ve got good size and they can rotate three bodies that are bigger than anyone we have. And their guards can shoot the ball as well. They’re a deep team, and a good team, and earned their way for a reason.”

Kirby added six assists and three steals for Timberlake. Lawler also had seven rebounds.

“Allison’s just so good, on both sides of the ball really,” Miller said. “She’s just a nightmare to go against when she’s guarding you because she’s so quick, so pesky. Offensively, she had a good night shooting the ball and getting inside. She’s just a good player.”

Both were quick to commend their teammates following the game.

“They just left some players open, and they did a good job of finding the open gaps and kicking the ball out,” said Kirby, who has signed with Idaho. “We were just making reads and playing just like we were supposed to play.”

“It was mostly our defense again,” said Lawler, a Division II Western State Colorado signee. “We did a good job of crashing the boards and playing tough.”

Jackson finished with 17 on the night for Parma (15-7), which will face Kimberly in the third-place game today in Middleton.
