ADAMS COUNTY — A man was spared injuries Thursday morning after his vehicle went down a washed-out section of road in Adams County between Lind and Warden.

The man was reportedly driving a 2000 Chevy Blazer on Lind-Warden Road when he came upon a section of washed-out road. The Blazer dropped about 15 feet down the embankment and into swift moving water runoff. The Blazer submerged in the water, but the driver was able to get out of the SUV unharmed. The Blazer was not as lucky, as it was swept up by the “rushing” water runoff, according to Adams County Sheriff Dale Wagner.

“The driver climbed out of the washed section and flagged over other vehicles to warn them about the hazard,” Wagner said.

Adams County road crews blocked off Lind-Warden Road at Roxboro Road, west of the washed-out section of road, and at state Route 21, on the east side of the washed-out road. Wagner said no traffic will be allowed through the barricades at Roxboro Road and SR-21. Violators will be cited on the spot.

Wagner recommends people be attentive to the roads because warmer weather softens the ground. He also asked the public to report road issues and to travel safely.
