Less than a week after the Lions defeated Troy 49-34, the Trojans came back with a vengeance which helped them move on to the district tournament.

In fact, this is the first time this season the Trojans have defeated the Lions — in a close game of 65-60.

The game was close from the beginning, but after outscoring Eureka 23-11 in the third quarter, the Lions struggled to catch up with the Trojans’ dominating score in the fourth — but managed to outscore the Trojans 18-7.

The Trojans paved their way to the win by also hitting 11 three-pointers during the game.

Trojan Dillon Savage had the team-high of 18 points. Jordan Day scored 11 for the team as Mason Chapel and Brylee Fruend chipped in an additional 10 each. Tucker Winn and Zack Cotten also scored eight points each.

The Trojans played Bigfork last night, Feb. 16, but the results from the game were not available by press time. If they defeat Bigfork, they will advance to the championship game on Saturday in Eureka against the winners of the Thompson Falls vs. Libby game.
