Della Jean Kauffman, 93

Della Jean Kauffman peacefully passed into our Lord’s hands on Feb. 8, 2017. She was born to Ward and Frieda Smith on July 11, 1923, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Della was a 1941 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School. On Aug. 24, 1941, she married the love of her life, Robert Kauffman. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Her sister, Mary Ellen Waters, preceded her in death in 1996.

Della Jean was the beloved mother to Diana (Randy) Bolstrom of Cave Creek, Ariz., James (Jan) Kauffman of Priest River, Idaho, and David (Jan) of Ronan, Mont.

She leaves eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Della loved her life in Coeur d’Alene. All of us have special memories of her; whether it was gardening, playing badminton or whiffle, and baking goodies. We will miss her.

She was also an avid bridge player; loved playing the piano, and was the epitome of housewife and mother.

In her later years, she enjoyed crossword, scratch-off lottery tickets and watching the Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball games. She was thrilled that they were ranked No. 1!

A graveside service will be held this summer for Della.
