WARDEN — A verbal argument in Warden Thursday night reportedly resulted in a woman stabbing her boyfriend several times with a knife.

About 7 p.m. the Warden Police Department received a report of a physical disturbance at an apartment in the 100 block of South Ash Avenue. Police later learned a woman, identified as Melissa Tapia, 34, of Warden, had gotten into an argument with her 26-year-old boyfriend, according to WPD Chief Rick Martin.

The verbal argument allegedly turned physical and ended with Tapia stabbing her boyfriend several times with a knife. Tapia fled the scene before police arrived. The victim was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake via ambulance where he was treated for “significant, but non-life-threatening” injuries, Martin said.

Jail records indicate Tapia was later arrested and booked into Grant County Jail for first-degree assault.
