PTA series begins with documentary

"Screenagers" will be shown Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.

The Whitefish Parent Teacher Association has rescheduled the showing of the “Screenager” documentary to Monday, Feb. 27.
The film had been set to show earlier in the month, but was rescheduled due to the weather. The documentary focuses on the struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction.
The film will be shown at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center at the Whitefish Middle School and will go from 7 to 9 p.m.
The PTA and the Whitefish School District are sponsoring a new education series and the film is the first of those presentations.
Christine Rossi, PTA chair, said the series is part of the PTA’s goal to find ways to make the PTA more relevant to members and parents lives.
Ryder Delaloye, director of curriculum and instruction for the district, offered the film as a good start for the series
The next event set for April 4 will be “Developing Social Media Awareness,” which will discuss the legal, moral and personal implications of navigating through the world of social media as a student. The PTA also plans to explore other topics like homework help and other ways to help students learn.
The “Screenagers” viewing is free and open to the public. The film is appropriate for adults and children age 10 and older.
