The Loggers are going onto divisionals after splitting their matches during districts last week.

Against Thompson Falls on Saturday, the Loggers on Thursday were narrowly defeated 43-41.

The Loggers were 31-25 against their opponents going into the last quarter, but were outscored 18-10 in the fourth.

Thompson Falls had more turnovers against the Loggers, they also had more defensive rebounds.

Ryggs Johnston led the team with a harrowing game-high of 25 points. Stephen Williams and Ryan Nagle each tallied five, as Colin Maloney chipped in four and Erik Lauer added two.

AGAINST Troy for third place on Saturday, the Loggers were able to redeem themselves with a dominating 50-27 against the Trojans.

Although the Trojans picked up momentum through the game, the Loggers kept a hold on the lead through the end.

“We got off to a slow start, but our kids came back and had a good 2nd quarter,” coach Josh Bean said. “I was happy for our kids to get the win after a tough loss on Thursday night.”

Johnston led the team once again with 11 points, Maloney followed close behind with 10. Nagle scored nine points for the team, Lauer and Stephen Williams added six, Brian Peck tallied three, Nik Gier and Giovanni Cano added two and Nik Jones chipped in one.

Looking forward to Divisionals, the coach Bean said he thinks any team has the opportunity to be in one of the two spots that go to the state tournament.

“We are in a familiar spot,” Bean said. “Just like last year we play Anaconda in the opening game of the tournament. We will have to be more consistent throughout the game scoring the basketball. Our defense has been pretty good. We have been holding opponents below their average in scoring.”
