COEUR d’ALENE — Unlike their Republican congressional counterparts, several state lawmakers representing Kootenai County districts will meet this weekend with constituents at town hall gatherings.
District 2 Rep. Eric Redman, R-Athol, will hold two health care town halls on Saturday. Redman will be at the Athol Community Center, 30355 Third St., at 10 a.m., and he will host a second town hall at 2 p.m. at Hayden Public Library, 8385 N. Government Way.
“I am looking forward to an informational and respectful discussion with the people of my district. I hope to see you there!” said Redman Wednesday in a Facebook post announcing his town halls.
Also on Saturday, District 4 Reps. Luke Malek, R-Coeur d’Alene, and Paul Amador, R-Coeur d’Alene, will host a town hall forum in Coeur d’Alene.
Malek and Amador’s town hall gathering will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room at Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
“This session has been actively focused on improving our educational system, improving pay for our teachers, and supporting strong families in Idaho. At the end of the session I believe we will have made an investment of over $100 million in new funding for public schools in Idaho, strengthened STEM education standards, and grown our ability to support Career and Technical Education programs throughout the State,” Amador said.
The two representatives will also discuss bills they are sponsoring this session.
“We have a very real need to look at several issues for the future of our community,” Malek said.
“I’m working on liquor license reform which would be very beneficial to businesses in our community, but health care and transportation funding are on everyone’s minds as well.”
