It is my extreme pleasure to voice my support for Lake Pend Oreille School District’s supplemental levy. As a 20 year employee, I can honestly say that this is a period of transparency and positive growth for District 84. It is my intent to vote yes on March 14.

• The state of Idaho currently houses 115 school districts, 94 (82 percent) of which function with a supplemental levy of some sort.

• Currently, 33 percent of LPOSD’s staff are funded by the soon to be expiring levy.

• All athletics and extracurricular activities are funded by the (again) soon-to-be expiring levy.

• The new supplemental levy replaces the existing levy and is not added on top.

There is a lot of confusion and misinformation in circulation regarding the March 14 replacement levy. The simple truth is; Lake Pend Oreille School District cannot function as it currently does without supplemental support.
