A Libby man pleaded guilty Feb. 15 to having a marijuana pipe without a medical license.

Nickolaus Jon Edwards, 33, was charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was his first offense.

The charges had a maximum penalty of a $500 fine and six months in jail.

Edwards must serve 29 days in the Lincoln County Jail from Feb. 15 to March 16. He was sentenced to 180 days with 151 days suspended.

Judge Jay Sheffield set conditions for shortening the jail time. Edwards must obey all laws and notify the court of a change of address. Not following these conditions may result in his driver’s license being suspended.

Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Dodson assisted with a probation check at a home in Libby. A glass pipe was found in one of the bedrooms with a “burnt green leafy substance”. Edwards reportedly told the deputy that the pipe belonged to him and he didn’t have a medical marijuana card. Dodson field tested the substance as marijuana.
