Flathead Electric’s Roundup for Safety program has awarded $16,400 in grants to seven community safety projects.

These grants include: $2,000 to Christ Lutheran Church for an Americans with Disabilities Act handicap door, $1,500 to the Whitefish School District for radar-detecting speed signs, $1,000 to Pleasant Valley School for an automated external defibrillator (AED), $3,000 for radios at the South Kalispell Fire Department, $6,500 for flooring in the Kila School District, $900 to All Saints Episcopal Church for AED, and $1,500 to Sparrow’s Nest of Northwest Montana for a security system.

Roundup for Safety awards grants to nonprofits in the cooperative’s service area to help pay for safety-related projects. Participating members allow their monthly bills to be “rounded up” to the nearest dollar, with the extra money going into a fund administered by an independent board of directors. Since 1997, the program has awarded more than $3 million to organizations supporting over 900 projects.
