A Kalispell mobile home was destroyed by fire shortly before midnight on Wednesday, leaving a woman homeless.
Kalispell Fire Department received a 911 call at 11:33 p.m. and responded to a residential structure fire at 940 Sixth St. W. in Kalispell.
Upon arrival, crews reported a structure fire with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of the mobile home. The fire was controlled quickly; however, the mobile home and its contents are reported to be a total loss.
The sole occupant of the home, Faye Kerzman, 65, was uninjured.
“She lost everything,” Kerzman’s sister Carleen Hutchings said. “Clothes, furniture, TV, dishes. She lost it all. All her pictures melted and stuff like that.”
Kerzman is paying for a room at the Motel 6 until housing arrangements can be made. Hutchings said she works part time at Cattleman’s.
Hutchings said people willing to donate items to Kerzman can call Hutchings at 406-755-0403. A GoFundMe account has been set up at www.gofundme.com/fayekerzman.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Assistance was received from Kalispell Police Department, Evergreen Fire Department, Smith Valley Fire Department, Flathead County 911 Center, Flathead Electric and Northwestern Energy.
