Charlo spikers capture Mineral County Shootout title

Charlo High School emerged with the championship from the 12-team Mineral County Shootout volleyball tournament held last Saturday in Superior and St. Regis.

Superior Junior High School demolished

It only took three days to tear down the aging Superior Junior High building located across the road from the Mineral County Fair Grounds. The demolition started on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and was completely gone and hauled away by Thursday.

Experts assessing Sunrise Fire damage

A few green plants have already sprung up past the charred earth of the Sunrise Fire, which burned just 13 miles east of Superior. On a sunny autumn day, the black soil is littered with tiny rusty pine needles in areas where a few still cling to the half-burned trees. Other areas are just blackened sticks bearing a ghostly reminder of the wildfire that raged through the area last summer, consuming over 26,000 acres.
