PRIEST RIVER — The visiting Hawks rallied from nine points down at halftime to take a two-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Spartans responded to capture the nonleague game.
Tauna Kirk scored all 14 of her points in the second half for Lakeland (2-12), including back-to-back 3-pointers during the Hawks’ third-quarter uprising.
“We’re playing better as a team,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “We picked up a couple of wins (last week at a tournament at West Valley). It’s tougher when we get into a winnable game and come up short. It’s a little tougher to deal with the loss, because we could have won. But it wasn’t for lack of effort; it was a great comeback.”
Madi Farris had eight rebounds, Lauren Cooper five steals, Brittany Charles four assists for Lakeland, which plays host to Kellogg on Tuesday.
Avery Summers scored a game-high 15 points for Priest River (4-7), which plays Coeur d’Alene Charter tonight at 6 at Canfield Middle School.
