Chiefs blanked at Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — Mario Petit and Dorrin Lunding combined to stop 23 shots for the Everett Silvertips in a 5-0 shutout of the Spokane Chiefs in Western Hockey League play in front of 3,225 at the XFINITY Center on Wednesday night.
It marks the second time this season that Spokane has lost via shutout, with the other coming in a 6-0 setback at Brandon.
Brandson Hein scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring for Everett in the second period.
Spokane (17-18-5-2, 41 points) trails Portland by two points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Spokane travels to face Portland on Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
