PLOW: Piles of praise

In answer to Dorothy Pietlicki’s letter (Plows: Where Art Thou?) in Wednesday’s Press, and in defense of our snowplows, there comes a point, and that’s where we are now, that they are running out of space to put the snow. You may not have noticed, but plows are working around the clock to remove snow that is piled so high you can’t see around or over it.

We are fortunate to have the equipment and drivers here in Kootenai County that we do. In addition, plowing the arterials so we can drive on them, they are actually picking up and loading snow into dump trucks to deposit in open spaces, like the fairgrounds. And when you look around at other cities, like Nampa, which has twice the population of Coeur d’Alene at 95,000+, and know that they employ only FOUR snowplows, two of which are out of commission at this time, we are very blessed with what we have. Be patient.
