Jessen sparks Timberlake late
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years AGO
SPIRIT LAKE — Brenden Jessen scored eight of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Timberlake Tigers beat the Priest River Spartans 51-46 in the annual Battle for the Buck spirit game.
“Brenden’s our defensive stopper and plays hard-nosed defense,” Timberlake coach Michael Scott said. “Tonight, the turnovers turned into points for him.”
Brayden Menti and Colton Counts scored 11 points each for Timberlake (5-3, 1-1 Intermountain League), which was playing for the first time since Dec. 20.
“Defensively, we just switched some things and were able to convert on some turnovers in the second half,” Scott said. “We haven’t played in a while and in our first game back, it had to be Battle for the Buck, and it looked like our first game. Priest River battled hard and weren’t going to go down easily.”
Hunter Hartwig scored 21 points for Priest River (4-6, 1-1).
Timberlake visits Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.
