A Cut Bank man is wanted on a $30,000 warrant that was issued Jan. 6 for allegedly getting caught with a significant amount of methamphetamine.

Dakota Eugene Thompson, 23, is charged with felony criminal possession with intent to distribute and use or possession of property subject to forfeiture.

According to court documents, Thompson was stopped by a Montana Highway Patrol Trooper on U.S. 2 on Sept. 19, 2016, at about 7:30 p.m. The trooper asked for a search warrant of Thompson’s vehicle after he allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana wafting from the vehicle.

Authorities allegedly found 14 grams of suspected meth, scales, a receipt book detailing suspected drug transactions and approximately $1,400. The Montana State Crime Lab confirmed the suspected drug seized in the search was methamphetamine.

An arraignment date has not yet been set.
