Officials invesigating possible homicide in Yaak

According to Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe, as of Monday night, the sheriff’s office is investigating a possible homicide in the Yaak Area.

The man has been identified as 31-year-old Travis Jay “TJ” Gillett, of Idaho.

The sheriff’s office issued a press release on Wednesday morning that Gillett had been reported missing over the weekend was found dead in the Yaak, Montana area on Monday. The body was recovered with assistance from the David Thompson Search and Rescue. Due to suspicious circumstances, the manner and cause of death are being investigated and an autopsy is being performed, the press release said.

At 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 16, an individual called the Lincoln County Dispatch to report that their friend, Gillett, had left Sandpoint, Idaho Friday night with someone from Thompson Falls in a dark blue or green pickup to make a delivery somewhere in the Yaak. The caller reported that the Gillett told the caller that they would be back sometime Saturday. Gillett was then deemed a missing person.
