Some Fat Tuesday Fun is coming to Coeur d’Alene.

Mardi Gras Krewe d’Alene will take place Saturday, Feb. 18 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in The Coeur d’Alene Resort Plaza Shops.

Hosted by the Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance, the event is an authentic Mardi Gras celebration and benefit for the alliance.

“Feel as though you are strolling the streets of the French Quarter sampling New Orlean’s-style fare in a competition between local restaurant favorites. Enjoy a drink in the oldest pub in the U.S., the famous pirate’s den, Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar,” states the alliance’s announcement of the event. “Experience a variety of street entertainment, live music, and artists in action in the famous Jackson Square.”

Revelers can enjoy traditional beignets and cafe au lait in a little street cafe, and the traditional king cake will be served with a prize going to the one who finds the baby in the cake.

Participating restaurants include Angelo’s Ristorante Italiano, Bistro on Spruce, Bonsai Bistro, Hay J’s Bistro, Moon Time, Season’s Fresh Grill, and Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House. Awards are for Chef’s Choice and People’s Choice.

The traditional Second Line, led by a live brass trio, will commence with the newly crowned King and Queen of the Mardi Gras, chosen during the evening. The King and Queen will also receive a Mardi Gras gift basket. Prizes will also be given for best costume and for the most spirited reveler. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Masks and beads will be available for sale during the evening.

Tickets are $50 each and include food, fun, dance and a keepsake pint glass, plus a no-host bar. Revelry sponsorships are available for $250 which includes four tickets, recognition on signs and program, and a Mardi Gras gift package with specialty beads, masks and traditional trinkets.
