Shannon Hanson has been selected to serve on the Whitefish School Board.
Hanson will fill the seat left open when Dave Fern resigned in December after his election to the Montana Legislature to represent House District 5.
The Whitefish School Board selected Hanson last week after interviewing three candidates for the position. Katie Clarke and Josh Knight also applied for the seat.
Hanson served two previous terms on the school board before loosing his bid for re-election to the board in 2012. He was selected to serve as vice chairman of the board in his second term.
Hanson has lived in Whitefish since 1983 and is the owner of the Computer Doctor.
In a letter to the board, Hanson said his experience as a marginalized student in high school makes acting as an advocate for similar students his priority.
Hanson will serve out the remained of Fern’s term until the next school election in May.
