COEUR d'ALENE — Paul E. Wesselmann, owner of Pauli's Tattoo and Royals Limousine, was charged with felony burglary Friday.

According to the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, the 36-year-old Coeur d'Alene man allegedly stole a video camera from Costco, valued at $199.

A Costco employee saw Wesselmann with an item tucked under his sweatshirt, according to the report. Wesselmann then reportedly ran from the store and threw it in the parking lot. Wesselmann tried to run again when he was approached by the employee, but was soon detained by authorities.

"I have a newborn baby at home and came here to steal a f***ing camera so I can have it in its bedroom," Wesselmann told the detaining officer.

However, the camera which Wesselmann allegedly stole was a Ring video doorbell camera which is used for front-door surveillance.

"I do not believe Paul wanted the camera to use as a baby monitor because the camera does not work unless the button is pushed or motion detection," the officer stated in the report.

Wesselmann, whose two businesses are in downtown Coeur d'Alene, was also arrested in October for his second offense of driving without privileges.
