Fagan shines on senior night for Cd'A

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Kayla Fagan hit two big 3-pointers and scored six of her 11 points in the fourth quarter, rallying the Coeur d’Alene Vikings past the Sandpoint Bulldogs 45-35 on senior night Tuesday night at Elmer Jordan Court.
Kelly Horning scored eight of her 12 points in the fourth quarter, and also grabbed seven rebounds for Coeur d’Alene (7-9). Rey Louden had eight points and nine boards for the Vikings, who outscored the Bulldogs 18-6 in the fourth.
“In the fourth quarter our defense really sparked our offense,” Coeur d’Alene assistant coach Mallorie Franco said. “Louden was a beast on defense, and (senior) Taryn (Horvath) was also a huge spark on the defensive end.”
Grace Kirscher scored 16 points, Trinity Golder 13 for Sandpoint (7-11).
Coeur d’Alene wraps up regular season play Thursday with a 5A Inland Empire League game at Post Falls.

MOSCOW — Hannah Broyles scored 16 points and Blaire Haeder added 14 points for the Bears, who jumped out to a 27-14 halftime lead en route to the 4A Inland Empire League win against the Hawks at Bear Den.
“We just let them out of the gates early,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “Moscow had a great first quarter and did everything we didn’t want them to.”
Taylor Elpers scored seven points and Sofi Schnepf and Tauna Kirk scored six points each for Lakeland (2-15, 0-3 4A IEL), which hosts Lake City on Friday.
Gracie Meyer scored 13 points for Moscow (6-9, 2-1).

COLBERT, Wash. — Belle Murekatete scored a game-high 26 points for the Jaguars, who fell behind by 20 points at halftime in a loss to the Crusaders.
“We didn’t handle their pressure very well,” Genesis Prep coach Debbie Holte said. “In the second half, we were able to slow down the game and stayed right with them, but by then, we were in a pretty big hole.”
Rachel Schroeder scored 19 points for Genesis Prep (8-4), which plays at Kootenai tonight.

COLBERT, Wash. — Stephane Manzi had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Jaguars, who suffered a narrow loss to the Crusaders in nonleague play.
“It was a great high school basketball game,” Genesis Prep coach Marsell Colbert said. “Both teams played hard, with a nice tempo. We played great, all-around defense but had a miscommunication at the end of the game. Stephane played a great game and I thought both him and Jonny played great a great game on both ends of the floor.”
Jonny Hillman scored 12 points for Genesis Prep (9-4), which faces Timberlake on Friday at Post Falls High.

PLUMMER — Zack Welch scored nine of his game-high 16 points in the third quarter, and the visiting Miners outscored the Knights 20-10 in the quarter to open up a 13-point lead in the North Star League game at Ron Miller court.
Welch hit 3 of 6 3-pointers in the win. Hunter Gust added 13 points and seven rebounds for Wallace (8-6, 4-1 NSL), which had four players in double figures.
“We just stopped hitting shots,” Lakeside coach Bob Wolcott said of the third quarter. “Our shot selection wasn’t great. Wallace had the ability to go inside and outside, with Welch on the outside and Gust on the inside.”
Wolcott said AJ Bighead, who scored all 14 of his points in the first half for Lakeside (4-7, 1-3), “probably had his best game for us.”
Takoda Abrahamson added 13 points for the Knights, who play host to Kootenai on Thursday.
