SANDPOINT — In response to the recent mumps outbreak in Spokane, a statement by registered nurse Dana Williams with the Lake Pend Oreille School District this week said no cases have been diagnosed in the district at this time.

Two or more confirmed cases in any one building is considered an outbreak. Students of LPOSD are required to have the mumps vaccine. District officials are reviewing the records of all students in the district. Students that do not have proof of MMR or have a signed exemption form will be excluded from school.

Idaho Code 33-512-(7) outlines exclusions related to contagious diseases. The Centers for Disease Control and Panhandle Health District recommend exclusion for 26 days after the onset of parotitis in the last person at that facility.
