COEUR d’ALENE — Zane Monaghan, in his first varsity match for Lake City, made it a memorable one on Thursday.

Monaghan, a sophomore transfer from Idaho Falls, pinned Tyler Hebner from Vallivue of Caldwell in 2 minutes, 25 seconds at 182 pounds in the final match of the night, lifting the Timberwolves to a 36-30 victory over the Falcons at Coeur d’Alene High.

“I’ve been impressed with the kid all year,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “He’s worked his butt off in practice ... I couldn’t have asked for it to happen to a better kid.”

Owen said the T-Wolves had seven guys out of the varsity lineup for various reasons.

“It was great to see the young guys scrapping hard tonight,” he said.
