OTHELLO — One person is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing a woman near Othello on Friday.
Early Friday morning deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 100 block of Barton Road, northwest of Othello. The caller said a woman had received a gunshot wound to the head and the suspect “had threatened to kill others at the same location,” Sheriff Dale Wagner said.
The suspect, identified as Ismael Soriano-Altamirano, 31, of Othello, reportedly fled the scene in a green Honda passenger car and was caught a short time later in Grant County by deputies with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
When Adams County deputies arrived at the Barton Road home, Bianca V. Espinoza, 27, of Othello, had already died from the gunshot wound. The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
Soriano-Altamirano was booked into the Adams County Jail for first-degree murder. His bail was set at $1 million.
"The sheriff's office staff has been working very hard all day (Friday) and will continue to work on this case until all pertinent information is obtained," Wagner said. "Our deepest condolences go out to those that are grieving the loss of Bianca."
