Stumptown Art Studio has a number of classes scheduled for the month of February.

• One-Day Watercolor Class: Guest artist Kim Shirley will hold a one-day watercolor class on Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 2-4 p.m. She will guide students on a fun watercolor session becoming acquainted with the medium, learning skills and focusing on watercolor calligraphy with a Valentine’s Day theme. Cost is $45 or the $40 member fee and includes all supplies.

• Glass Fusing: This adult art workshop will teach students to create a fibonacci fade platter combining art and math elements for a glass piece which will be fired in the kiln. The class is Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The fee is $65 or $60 members.

• Cultural and Art History Club: This adult art discussion will focus is on self-taught artist. The club meets Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 1:30-3 p.m. The drop-in fee is $5 or free with membership.

• Wild Women Wednesday: This adult art evening is designed to be a facilitated evening of art-making just for the ladies. Bring your own refreshments. The class is Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

• Fine Silver Fusing: Guest artist Traci Staves introduces students to fusing — it’s like soldering but no flux, no solder, just silver. Students will create their own fine silver chain bracelet during the class on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 6-9 p.m. The class will also be held on March 21. The fee is $90 and includes all supplies.

• Canvas and Cocktails: This adult art class is held once-a-month on a Friday with a different artist or theme is featured in this guided painting class. Supplies provided, bring your own snacks and cocktails. The fee is $35 or $30 for members. The class is Friday, Feb. 24 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

• Lamp Work: Guest artist Traci Staves teaches students how to make glass beads in this introductory class using a torch and glass rods. Returning students came using new and different techniques. The class is Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10:30-3:30 p.m. with a lunch break. The class will also be held on March 18. The $155 fee includes all supplies.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue

Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.

Sled Dog Days pints for a purpose

Flathead Sled Dog Days is gearing up for its fifth annual dog sled race Jan. 6-8. Race organizers have partnered with the Whitefish Winter Carnival to become part of their festivities next month.
