A 33-year-old Coeur d’Alene man was arrested Friday in Coeur d’Alene for violating a no-contact order, and on several warrants, after police found him hiding in a house with the woman whom the order protected.

Christopher Neal Osborn was arrested on the 2700 block of N. 10th Street and charged by police with second-degree kidnapping, a felony no-contact order violation, obstructing police and on three warrants.

Osborn, who had two prior misdemeanor convictions for violating no-contact orders, a domestic violence conviction, and a series of driving misdemeanors, burglary charges and a battery charge, fled into a residence and hid after police responded to the area and saw him, according to a press release from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.

Witnesses confirmed Osborn was inside along with the woman who was named in the no-contact order.

No one responded when police tried to get Osborn and the woman to come outside, McCormick said.

“Officers eventually gained entry into the residence and located Christopher, who was hiding inside,” said the news release.

Osborn was taken into custody and the woman was found unharmed inside the home, police said.

McCormick said police charged Osborn with kidnapping because he caused the woman fear prompting her to hide inside the house.

“Based on the circumstances it appears she was fearful and held against her will,” he said.

If Osborn is charged by a magistrate with kidnapping when he appears Monday before a judge, he could face between one and 25 years in prison. Felony violation of a no-contact order carries a prison sentence of up to five years.

The last time Osborn violated the no-contact order before the latest incident was in February, according to court records. That case was adjudicated two months ago.
